Founded in 1996, the Rotary Club of Edmonds Daybreakers is an organization of local community and business leaders focused making a difference by serving the the citizens of our city and the world.
Edmonds Jazz Connection is a local festival showcasing some of the best high school jazz programs from throughout the Pacific Northwest. These programs feature many very highly talented musician students, and have performed at prestigious jazz competitions nationwide. Jazz Connection is a year-end encore for these students to perform for families, friends and community, and showcase their skills on stage side-by-side with professional musicians.
While the principal goal of the event is to expose this impressive local talent to our community, even more importantly, this event is a pivotal catalyst for raising funds to further cultivate superior music education in our schools and the students who participate. Our areas of focus this year are:
1. Launch and fund quarterly clinician sessions for each program in the district. These clinics will provide an opportunity for each jazz ensemble to work regularly with professional musicians to further develop improvisational musical talents and skills. Clinics produce tremendous benefits for students who desire to take their talent 'to the next level'.
2. Fund block grants awarded to participating schools to enrich their curriculum and to make music education more accessible to their student body.
3. Scholarships for student musicians continuing their education and university, college or vocational school.

3. Scholarships for student musicians continuing their education and university, college or vocational school.
